Our concert calendar is available for listing all performances of contemporary classical music. Bach and Mozart would not be appropriate. If you are a performer or handle PR for a performer or organization and would like direct access to post your notices here, send us a note. If you don't feel that computer savvy, send the releases here and we'll post them for you.

Anthony Coleman at Issue Project Room
August 30th, 2005, 8pm Issue Project Room 400 Carroll Street Brooklyn, NY
Anthony Coleman
Brooklyn, NY -- On August 30, 2005, ISSUE Project Room is pleased to announce a special concert honoring the life and work of Anthony Coleman, in celebration of his 50th birthday. The concert will take place at 8:00pm; doors open at 7:30pm.
Composer-keyboardist Anthony Coleman performs, records, and inspires throughout the world. Whether as a band leader,a sideman, or solo pianist, the work of Anthony Coleman forms an important contribution and has helped to shape and influence the course of New York's Downtown Music scene over the last two decades. He is noted among the key luminaries of Free Improvisation, and his interest in Eastern European musical traditions helped to create what is now known as Radical Jewish Culture. Please join us on this extraordinary night with several of Downtown's virtuosos gathering together to accompany Coleman on a musical expedition covering twenty years of work. Musicians include Doug Weiselman, Jim Pugliese, Roberto Rodriguez, Greg Cohen, Ted Reichman, Roy Nathanson, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Michael Attias, and Marco Cappelli.
Coleman's body of work will be represented by music originally written for projects such as Selfhaters Orchestra, by Night, Sephardic Tinge and Professionales; the major work The Abysmal Richness of the Infinite Proximity of the Same will be played, by the original cast of the Tzadik recording, for the first time in over 5 years. Additionally, the concert will also feature lesser-known chamber works of Coleman's and more recent compositions like Pushy Blueness, a piece written in Hamburg, Germany with the assistance of Frei und Hanseastadt Hamburg Kulturbehoerde.
Tickets; $15
For reservations, please email info@issueprojectroom.org or call: 718-330-0313
