Our concert calendar is available for listing all performances of contemporary classical music. Bach and Mozart would not be appropriate. If you are a performer or handle PR for a performer or organization and would like direct access to post your notices here, send us a note. If you don't feel that computer savvy, send the releases here and we'll post them for you.

SMI MUSIC WITH VAJAS Tuesday, October 25, 7:30 pm at Scandinavia House $15 ($10 American-Scandinavian Foundation members)
VAJAS (Echo) presents a synergy of arctic voices and sound: the traditional Smi yoiks of nde Somby emanating from the distant tundra; the entrancing violin stylings and melodic voice of Kristin Mellem; and the renowned and captivating synthesizer sound voyages of Nils Johansen. The group calls the arctic city of Troms in northern Norway home. nde Somby, in addition to being a famous Smi traditional yoiker, is also a well-known legal scholar and indigenous rights activist. Kristen Mellem is a classically trained violinist and composer who currently works with folk music, yoiking and community theatre. The contemporary musician and composer Nils Johansen was the music mastermind of the internationally celebrated group Bel Canto.
