The Kaufman Center presents Bang on a Cans Sixth Annual Peoples Commissioning Fund (PCF) Concert at Merkin Concert Hall on Thursday, February 3, at 8 PM. New Yorks electric chamber ensemble Bang on a Can All-Stars takes on new works by Carla Kihlstedt, Cynthia Hopkins and JG (Jim) Thirlwell, then welcomes special guest Philip Glass to the stage for a rare performance of his seminal early work Music in Similar Motion. The program will also include one of the very first PCF pieces: Dan Plonseys The Plonsey Episodes (commissioned in 1998). A special edition of New Sounds Live, the program will be hosted by John Schaefer and presented in association with WNYC Radio.
