Brant’s passing is truly a great loss. I saw him perform at a week of American experimental works given by the NYPO in ’94 and was very impressed with his music. In fact, I went back two more times to sit in different places in the hall, thereby getting a sense of the spatiality.
I’m grateful he lived to see his work receive a measure of acclaim. I reviewed vol. 8 and 9 of the Innova series for the summer issue of Signal to Noise.
Recently, I was in touch with Brant’s via his record label to try and set up an interview. He very cordially invited me to visit him at his home in Santa Barbara. I regret having not gotten on a plane sooner.

A truly sad loss.
