Composers Forum is a daily web log that allows invited contemporary composers to share their thoughts and ideas on any topic that interests them--from the ethereal, like how new music gets created, music history, theory, performance, other composers, alive or dead, to the mundane, like getting works played and recorded and the joys of teaching. If you're a professional composer and would like to participate, send us an e-mail.
Record companies, artists and publicists are invited to submit CDs to be considered for review. Send to: Jerry Bowles, Editor, Sequenza 21, 340 W. 57th Street, 12B, New York, NY 10019
Lately I’ve been worried about my music being a bit ole fashioned. Now among the many other skills I should begin to cultivate if I want one day to hang with the kool kidz is the ability to come up with a Snazzy Title. What do you think of these?
Vacuum Cleaner Jam Session
Rock Turn
Eight Etudes and a Mosh Pit
Chamber-of-Death Concerto (featuring instruments made from blood – or has this been “Dun” before?)
Billy Ran Back Out for Piano Man
Phil ‘er up with Ludwig Van
SchuBurt Lieder (I’m thinking one part Franz, one part Bacharach)
“By Golly”
Do Boy (a new take on “In C” perhaps?)
It’s Hard Out Here for a Viola
(Hope I don’t get into trouble for some of these.)
